Summary (EN): The UAE and Kuwait have raised naphtha exports to Asia through ship-to-ship transfers outside the Strait of Hormuz, shipping about 1.6 million tonnes in August and September versus about 700,000 tonnes in March and April. This has helped Asian crackers lift output, and SCG Chemicals restarted its Rayong cracker on 17 September after about six months under force majeure, buying naphtha on the spot market. Supply is improving but is not yet back to normal.
Naphtha availability and spot premiums set Thai cracker run rates, and so the supply and cost of olefins and resins that members trade.
